I would think most people would not need many countries on a residential list.
Perhaps a VOIPo plan where you chose you choose 3 countries,
and allow changes once a month. Call it "Unlimited Global123" :)
For example you could select USA plus Canada/England/France.
Similarly controlled/updated like the Verizon 5-Favs.
That is quite an interesting idea, some of us came to the US from another country, and our spouse possibly from yet another.
Could work, interesting marketing angle !!!

My problem with that kind of thing is that you have to offer the service at a higher pricepoint for something that 95% of potential customers don't use. Most will never make an international call so they kind of tune that out and just see the higher price.
I think it's more of a niche service and you need to be at the higher pricepoint to make it work.
If we were to offer that along side a standard offering though, then people perceive the standard offering as missing something just because we point it out.
I have thought about a cheap "addon" for "pick your own 3-5 countries from this list" or something along those lines. That's something that may come later.
How about an ADD-A-COUNTRY option?
$4 to an UNLIMITED PLAN, and $2 for each additional country.
- It could be a nice option for some
- Add to any unlimited plan - no debate
- Only bill if you exceed 5 minutes in the month.
- And only if you have that COUNTRY option activated.
