    Default PAP2T static IP

    Hi,

I have my PAP2T working ok with a dynamic IP. I would like to set it to use a static IP, so that I can set up QOS on my Dlink router for it.

I went into the web panel (btw, userid: user, password: 123) and set...

    DHCP: No
    Static IP: 192.168.1.201
    Netmask: 255.255.255.0
    Gateway: 192.168.1.1

It restarts, and I can log into the web panel now at 192.168.1.201 just fine. But, the ATA is not registering with VOIPo. If I set it back to dynamic, then it registers again ok.

I was thinking maybe this has to do with the DNS addresses are not specified when in static mode, but I also don't see anywhere where I can set the DNS addresses.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks

Your dlink should be able to statically assign your device the same address every time. You have to set it up. Might get you by if all else fails...

Ok, I was not aware it could do that. Can you point me to instructions on how to (just in case this cannot be fixed in the PAP2T)?

    Edit:
Duh, I figured out how to reserve an IP (on the Dlink). Just do a DHCP Reservation under Setup -> Network settings.

Would still like to fix static IPs in the PAP2T though.

I do my entire network that way just because I can go in easily and see what a particular device is in case Ive forgotten.

Ive never had a pap2 but on the Linksys rt31p2 model there was a dns entry in the admin pages.

In the PAP2T, I see the entries for DNS in the system tab screen.

    Was your provisioned?

Let's be sure we're talking about the same box. Mine is a PAP2T recently sent to me from VOIPo...provisioned, and it is rock solid.

Mine is BYOD. It is a PAP2T. I had 2 1/2 years of no outages with these settings. Recently I had about 2 weeks of not registering, but it has been solid again for the last week.
