    Default Sneak Peek: Network Enhancements

For those interested, Softlayer our primary datacenter is about to announce some major network upgrades.

Go to http://www.softlayer.com/facilities/network-overview/ and check out the new network map which shows the network layout after the May upgrades. If you click on "Current Network" in the top right of the map, it shows how it is now.

We're also in the process of adding some Peer1 datacenters to the mix for redundancy. Vonage is a Peer1 client as well.

Lots of good things coming. More info in the "VOIPo State of the Union" which will be sent out in a few days.

Will this have effect on RTP traffic too, or only SIP and internal things like backups or DB?

All our core stuff. RTP traffic only goes through us if the account is set to proxy the audio to us. By default it goes out to the remote terminating media gateways. We do have some big enhancements coming in that area as well though.
