Not sure. That is a good question. I guess the key issue would be codec support and network restrictions. I would love to do some testing.
I think the hardware video phones use the same video codecs as the softphones. So I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work. In fact, it seems the purpose of SIP is to make the client device irrelevant, so long as the standards are followed correctly. So we should be able to talk between a hardware videophone and a software videophone. I just haven't gotten around to buying a hardware phone for testing.
If you want to try a test lt me know I am running on asterisk box so I am not sure how that will work I have the video setup and in theory voipo to voipo is free.
