407 proxy authentication errors

I'm getting occasional outbound call failures with a recording about the ISP reporting a 407 error.

My obi202 call history says: Call Ended (407 Proxy Authentication Required)

I had a bunch of these a few days ago, and they went away when I rebooted the obi. But I've just had another one.

Any thoughts?

Not sure of your setup, but it sounds like a firewall/port conflict where it's not allowing the connection.

Again; not knowing your setup, but the very first thing I do when troubleshooting a voip adapter having issues on a network, is try and isolate the adapter totally. I.e. In your case, just the obi202 and the internet (DSl, Cable modem, etc). If you have the OBI202 behind a network router, experiment with DMZ.

Again; maybe you tried some of this, but not knowing your network setup, I can only suggest based on my networking experience. Take care. Mike.

@FloridaMatt, which voipo server are you registered to?

I had a client with the same problem on Friday. Went away after they rebooted their pbx and comcast modem/router.

But that could have been a coincidence. The problem may have been elsewhere, and it would have resolved even if they didn't reboot.

Also, what DSN servers are you using? I've heard that switching to use Google free DNS servers can help resolve some of these types of issues.

Their DNS servers are at 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
